Blue Ridge Arts Center

The National Juried Photography Exhibition at The Blue Ridge Arts Center opens on March 15, 2024 and closes on April 19. The exhibition is open to all photographers in the United States. This exhibit is held in The Blue Ridge Arts Center’s main gallery, located at 111 E. South Second Street in Seneca, South Carolina.

2024 JUROR: LARRY BENNETT

Larry’s color and abstractions offer the viewer insight into the subtle fabric of color and form as found in the world around us. His handcrafted color prints have been exhibited throughout the United States. Larry captures still life and landscape images using a variety of photographic media.

Originally from Michigan, Larry first became interested with photography while shooting for his high school yearbook. He then studied the Zone System for black and white photography with Howard Bond, gaining a large amount of technical knowledge. He says it is this knowledge that allows him to fully tap into his creative processes. Larry has traveled extensively throughout North America as well as Internationally.

EXHIBITION DETAILS

ELIGIBILITY

Open to all artists residing in the United States. Only original artwork executed by the artist within the last three years and not previously shown at The Blue Ridge Arts Center will be considered. Finished size including framing not to exceed 30×40 inches. BRAC reserves the right to reject offensive or controversial content.

REQUIREMENTS:

MEDIA

All photographic processes are welcome, including:

  • Non-traditional materials and/or mixed media
  • Digital images derived from the artist’s own sources

AWARDS

  • Best in Show: $500
  • 2nd Place: $250
  • 3rd Place: $150
  • Merit Awards (2): $75

SALES

Artists may choose to offer their work for sale. Blue Ridge Arts Center will retain a 35% sales commission on all work sold. All work must remain for the duration of the show.

FOR ACCEPTED ENTRIES

If your work is accepted, you will receive a notification by email by February 24, which will include delivery instructions. All work must arrive ready for installation with wire hanger attached.

Accepted works may be hand-delivered or shipped. Shipped work must arrive no later than Saturday, March 9 in a sturdy, reusable container. Additional shipping details to be provided acceptance email. Call 561-889-9215 to discuss the possibility of printing your image locally to avoid shipping.

RETRIEVAL OF WORK

The exhibition closes April 19. Hand-delivered work must be picked up on Saturday, April 20 (10am-4pm). Shipped work will be returned via UPS and will be insured for the stated value of the piece(s) unless specified otherwise. Shipped entries must include return UPS shipping fees/label or the artwork will not be returned to the artist.

Artwork left longer than 30 days becomes the property of the Blue Ridge Arts Center.
