Life Drawing Artist Group

Life drawing is the practice of drawing from a live model. For centuries, artists have used life drawing to develop their ability to observe proportion, gesture, light and form. Working from a real person – rather than a photograph – encourages artists to respond directly to the subtle shifts of posture, balance, and expression that bring the human figure to life on the page.

In life drawing sessions, artists typically work from a series of poses that vary in length, from quick gesture studies to longer poses that allow for more developed drawings. Each artist interprets the model in their own way, using different materials and approaches. The works in the slideshow below reflect that diversity – capturing moments of movement, rest, structure, and character through careful observation and personal expression.
