Calling all artists for a FABULOUS challenge! Choose an MASTER of the PAST or PRESENT. Study their work, their technique, and their color palette. Then draw, paint, sculpt, photograph, or Etch-a-Sketch one of their masterpieces… while making it your own!
Not sure where to start? If they worked in oil, copy their work in watercolor. If they worked large, copy their work small. Use their style and apply it to a new subject. There are so many options. Or, just go ahead and copy it exactly. After all, that is how all the MASTERS learned! Be creative and let the artwork inspire you!
When you submit your entry, please upload images of both the work you created and the Master’s work which inspired you.
Eligibility
This is an ‘open’ show – all submitted works will be displayed and awards will be presented. Artists may submit 1-2 original works created in the last 2 years, which have not previously been exhibited at Blue Ridge Arts Center.
Entry Fee
- General: $40 for up to 2 works
- BRAC Members: $35 for up to 2 works
- Students: $25 for up to 2 works
Entry fee is non-refundable and due at time of registration. Proceeds fund BRAC operating expenses.
Media
Any 2D or 3D media which meet the following criteria is welcome:
- Gallery-wrapped canvases which are over 1” thick, may be unframed, but all edges must be finished/painted and canvas must be wired for hanging.
- All other canvases and 2D work must be securely framed and wired for hanging.
- 3D work must sit solidly on a pedestal/floor or be securely mounted & wired for hanging.
- Artwork must require no assembly
- Jewelry must be presented in a shadow box.
Awards
Non-participating local artists will serve as judges for this show. Awards will be presented at our opening reception.
- 1st Place: $750
- 2nd Place: $500
- 3rd Place: $250
- Merit Awards (5): $100
Sales
- Artists may offer their work for sale.
- BRAC will retain a 35% sales commission.
- Work must remain for the duration of the show.

Closing reception will include an judge’s talk at 6pm, discussing work in the show and award winning artwork.

- Saturday, August 22 (10am-1pm)
No early pick-ups. Artwork left more than 30 days becomes the property of BRAC.
