LECTURES
The South Carolina foothills area is steeped in history and one of the
Blue Ridge Arts Council's goals is to preserve the local heritage.
Among the programs offered at the Arts Center are Heritage
Lectures which provide opportunities to learn more about the
histories of the Cherokee, Revolutionary War, Civil War, gold,
railroad, agriculture, industry, and natural attractions of the area, as
well as visual and performing arts.
Although titled Heritage Lectures, the programs might more
appropriately be called "heritage and arts presentations", as they
often include demonstrations and performances. The presenters
include local historians, artists, and musicians as well as occasional
visiting guest speakers. The Heritage Lectures are usually held
during the evening hours to be accessible to the working population.
They are free and open to the public. Upcoming lectures are listed in
BRAC Activity Schedules.
