Sue West is best known for her oils and acrylics of introspective, contemplative figures and lively, colorful florals. West’s curiosity of human nature, beautiful daughters and love of gardening drive her work. One can see influences of Matisse, Monet and Renoir depicted in her pieces. West’s whimsical scenes, expressive use of color and abstract of the human figure have been impacted by nationally known artists and instructors Robert Burridge, George Shipperley and Jeannie McGuire. Her work has won national awards and can be found in collections throughout the United States. West continues to expand her creativity by studying work of those that have come before her and current trends of today’s artists.
